Dr. Kotini-Shah is a tenured Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine with fellowship training in point-of-care ultrasound and resuscitation research. She is particularly interested in developing her expertise in advanced echocardiographic applications in the ED. Dr. Kotini-Shah is also a physician scientist, who just completed her K-award from the Building Interdisciplinary Research Careers in Women’s Health (BIRCWH) program to support her work in understanding health disparities, especially sex/gender and racial/ethnic disparities in cardiac arrest. Also earlier this year, Dr. Kotini-Shah completed the Global Clinical Scholars Research Training Program at Harvard Medical School. Last month, Dr. Kotini-Shah was promoted to the position of Director of Research Strategy and Innovation for the research division in the Department of Emergency Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Proudly, she is the mother of 2 boys, aged 5 and 10. In her free time, she enjoys DIY projects and reading Harry Potter with them, and has recently started to dabble in Hindu vedantic texts.
